YODI’S FRONT YARD CAT HOUSE

The Cat House concept was conceived out of love for my cat Yodi. The natural instinct of any cat is to be in a safe elevated location. The cat house provides a means to access a protected comfortable location for catlike activities of elevated observation, sleep etc.

The structural elements are abstracted down to the bare minimum. Four sets of double struts originate from a hub, which slides over the supporting central tube column. The struts angle up to support twin angles, which project from the central hub at a right angle. These twin angles in turn provide edge support for the four triangular sections, which comprise the “bomb proof” hardwood platform. These struts penetrate between the twin angles and continue up to support the roof above.

The ramp is hardwood to match the platform and structured from below with an aluminum tube. The tube connects to the ramp using “U” brackets. The ramp and supporting tube structure is fabricated in two pieces to meet maximum length shipping requirements.

Materials include a galvanized sheet metal roof, anodized aluminum structure, Pau Lope (ironwood) hardwood ramp and stainless steel hardware.
